LANDSCAPE SEEN FROM ABOVE - triptych
This is an oil painting on canvas. Dimensions 100 x 158 cm spaces included
Composed of three panels of 50 x 100 cm with a space of 4 cm between the panels which represents a landscape seen from the top of the village of Gordes
The technique used is the palette knife.
It is a figurative painting.
I chose an atmospheric and oblique perspective, which can be easily found around the village where I have my studio.
We can observe a division of space into three horizontal parts made up of the sky and the mountains in the upper part of the canvas, followed by the hills in the middle part and a close-up with orange-red fields, to finish with trees in the very foreground.
The colors in the upper part of the painting are rather cold, cerulean blue for the sky and cobalt blue for the mountains.
The hills on the second level of the painting are covered with fields of different sizes and shapes.
The colors of the fields, orange, pale green, red, are delimited by spots of vegetation, the color of bladder green.
The light comes from the left with blue, almost lavender-colored shadows.
The shapes of trees and vegetation in general are suggested, without seeking a botanical description.
The color is applied with a palette knife in a gesture that is vertical and horizontal with thick touches giving relief to the material.
